More than occasionally, a new client will tell me that they can relate to just about every statement on my home page. Statements like “I constantly think about food,” “I want to improve my health without dieting or giving up my favorite foods”, “I find myself eating when I’m not hungry and I don’t know why,” and “I’m either ‘on’ or ‘off’ a diet and want to give up the diet and weight rollercoaster.”
Oftentimes people who struggle with food experience shame and feel alone in their struggles – even if they’re already working with a dietitian and/or therapist. That’s why I think the right kind of group support can be so powerful. My upcoming Intuitive Eating Group at Mindful Nutrition gives you both peer and expert support. Picture understanding, compassion, support, insight, encouragement (and hopefully laughter!)…to empower you to make a real positive shift in your relationship with food…and yourself.
What would happen if a year from now, nothing about your relationship with food changed? Rather than feeling stuck, imagine these possibilities in just 4 weeks:
- Decreased food guilt and increased food confidence
- Feeling more satisfied after eating
- Learning tools to manage non-hunger urges to eat
- Decreased binge eating intensity and frequency
- Increased sense of body wisdom
Here’s what a past Intuitive Eating group participant had to say: “Minh-Hai, you are so knowledgeable and have a big bag of tricks to help us! Your gentle and supportive manner meant so much. I felt the Intuitive Eating Group was a huge support for me. It was very normalizing to meet others who wanted to learn about intuitive eating. It feels like such a hard thing to do on your own. The group readings and handouts linked well with the book and also highlighted and broadened the concepts. It was good to hear about other resources too, like the meditations. The atmosphere of the group was great – very calm and welcoming, relaxed and inquisitive. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to have a more mindful relationship with food and their body.”

Can I get information about the next 4 session group?
Absolutely, Kelly. Details are TBD…in the meantime, I’m gathering info on what time/day would work best for people (sometime Sun-Thurs). Right now, wondering about Sundays at 3:15p, or Tues or Wed evening (5:30 or 6p?). Would love to hear what works best for you, too!
Wednesday would be great!
I’m also interested in the next group please and I agree that Wednesday nights would be great! I vote for 6 pm!
I’m also interested in a group and I think Wednesdays are great. I vote for 6 pm!
I’m not currently running a Intuitive Eating Group but please check out my colleague Mya Kwon, MPH, RD at http://www.myakwon.com often has groups; and I believe there will be an Intuitive Eating group happening at EBTCS soon as well!
